A Word from the Administration

Congratulations!  Congratulations!  Congratulations!
Congratulations to Lexi Howard who was, honored by the Illinois Society of Colonial Dames with her XVII Century Award for her project on ‘Cahokia Mounds', and a Superior Award at the State History Fair!  Congratulations, too, to Superior Winners: Anthony Mobley, Zach Kreke, Joey Kendall & Scott Pillow for their project on the ‘Germantown Egg Company', Madi Freeman, Kaylee Schrand, Kirsten Thomas & Olivia Page for their project, ‘Rockford Peaches', and An Award of Excellence to Grace Yaunches & Kira Schulte's ‘St. Valentine's Day Massacre' Project, with Nicole Warneke's ‘Betty White" Project earning an Award of Good!

Five District 12 entries, Three Superior Awards, an Excellence Award and one Award of Good- a true testament to what happens when student effort, parental support, and teacher guidance can provide when teamed together!

Kudos to Mrs. Schrand and the Music Program!  Last night's packed house Awards Banquet at the Breese Legion was filled with much deserved accolades for the talented musicians who never stop honing their skills in order to provide one ingredient that makes up the Band and Chorus!

Noteworthy

  1. Graduation Ceremonies:  Wednesday, May 25th, beginning at 7 PM in the gym, our 8th Graders will be officially promoted to the rank of  a Freshman in High School! Tonight, these young men and women will enjoy their Final Dance!  On Thursday, May 26th, Kindergarten Graduation ceremonies will take place in Breese at 9:30 AM!
  2. Academic Awards Day:  Wednesday, May 18th, 9 AM, in the Breese gymnasium- these awards will go out to students in Grades 5-8, and the public is invited to attend!  Also, recognition to the other clubs and teams will be celebrated!  Please attend!
  3. HAT DAY:  Friday, the 20th, we ask that all children wear their favorite, yet, tastefully appropriate hats and to please donate $1 to the District12 Relay for Life Team, benefiting the American Cancer Society!
  4. Field/Carnival Day:  Tuesday, May 24th, students will participate in the annual Field Day festivities- a sign that Summer Vacation is (remarkably) right around the corner!  There's still room at both schools for any volunteers to help out!
  5. Box Tops, Ink Cartridges & Cell Phones!  Don't forget to think of District 12 when you see the money earning labels, barcodes, coupons, empty ink cartridges & old phones!  Save ‘em & Send ‘em in when August rolls around!
  6. New School Board Seated:  Congratulations to new members, Ken McElroy and Jamie Toeben with Dennis Meier, Ken Kauling, and Lisa Wise, retaining their seats on the Board!  After the votes were canvassed and the Board was seated, the members elected Ken Kauling to serve as President, Lisa Wise as Vice-President, and Dennis Meier as the Secretary.  Congratulations, and thank you for the service you provide!  The evening also brought an end to the terms of two members who served the district very well as members of the Board.  Our sincere thanks to Allen Thole and Greg Kruse for their time and dedication while serving the youth of District 12!
  7. Book Fees:  Please consider, it's not too late to submit your obligation to assist the district and your fellow taxpayers in covering the fees generated through the annual purchase of textbooks, consumable workbooks, paper supplies, ink supplies, and periodicals by paying your fees.  The amount the Board asks you to submit pales in comparison to the overall amount of expenditure.
  8. Lunch Bills:  In much the same tune as above, failure to pay that lunch bill requires the district, and ultimately the taxpayers, to pay.  We provide numerous opportunities to take advantage of free or reduced pricing throughout the year, and it's greatly appreciated that those who need assistance receive it when available.  If not, everyone is expected to do their part in meeting the financial obligations of providing children their education.
  9. Lost & Found:  The collection of ‘things left behind' has again reached Super Size.  We had things on display in the gym today, and if you're interested in taking a look before it's sent to the recycle bin, feel free to do so as all items will be donated to charity on May 27th.

Yankee Candles Have Arrived -Thank you to all for supporting this fundraiser.

Please Note: There are still some items that have not been picked up.  If you have not picked up your order please do so during school hours at the Breese campus office.

It has also been brought to my attention that some orders have items that are broken or missing.  If this is the case, please let us know.  Also let us know if you are missing your order form.  The secretaries have been doing what they can to field calls but as school wraps up, I don't want this to become an effort on their part.  Please feel free to contact me directly at kruseamy@hotmail.com or at 526-2703 so the PTC can be sure to address all issues as promptly as possible.

We have not received a potential delivery date on backordered items.  As soon as we know when to expect these items, we will let those affected know.  Thanks for your continued patience.

As you may know, the district made a substantial investment in its infrastructure by implementing a VDI or virtualized desktop infrastructure. This is a fancy way to say that we now house all of our district computers (Virtual Machine or VMs) in small closet and make them accessible to anyone who is within either school in our district no matter which one. But we have taken this a step farther!! We now can get to our desktops ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!! Well, anywhere where you have the internet,
